The Nasrul-lahi-li Fathi Society of Nigeria (NASFAT) has appealed to Nigerians to be patient with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the harsh effect of fuel subsidy removal.

The Chief Missioner of NASFAT, Imam Mahroof Abdulazeez Onike, who stated this at the 1445AH joint Maulud Nabiyy celebration held on Wednesday and organised by the headquarters of the association and Lagos zones, at The Central Mosque, Alausa, Lagos, argued that it is too early for Nigerians to lose hope, as his 100 days in office is not enough to repair the country’s battered image.

While calling on Nigerians to support the present administration with prayers, he said: “Things that have been destroyed for so many years, you can’t expect him to repair it in 100 days. All hands must be on deck to assist the president in bringing back the ship of Nigeria that has gone astray.”

Speaking on the importance of the celebration, the cleric stated that the best way to celebrate the prophet’s month is to allow his teachings to dictate Muslims, nay Nigerians live their life.

He enjoined Muslims across the globe to embrace one of the virtues of Prophet Muhammad, which is ensuring peace by tolerating other religions.
He reminded Muslims how the prophet through the culture of tolerance and peaceful coexistence embrace non-Muslims without drawing lines. He said: “The man we are celebrating today is the best mankind and he made us to understand the importance and benefit of cohabiting. That is why the Quran in Surah Qalam (Chapter 68) says, “… And indeed, you are of a great moral character.”

In her remarks, the Financial Secretary of NASFAT, Fausiyat Oladoja, encouraged Muslim faithful to accept the prophet as their role model. She said: “For Muslims in general, I will advise that we follow the sunnah. As we are marking his month of birth, I will encourage us to follow one of his teachings, which is fasting every Monday and Thursday, because it is even good for our health.”

The National Treasurer of NASFAT, Alhaja Kuburat Olanrewaju Lawal, said the celebration is an opportunity for Muslims to reflect on their ways of life by adjusting to the teachings and traditions of the noble prophet.

The guest lecturer, Imam Mustapha Genty, said that Maolud Nabiyy is an opportunity for Muslims to imbibe new lessons and teachings from the Prophet’s way of life in becoming a better faithful. He said that the teachings of prophet Muhammad cut across all sectors as he encouraged the continuous imbibing of his principles.
