Muslims intending to travel to Saudi Arabia for the 2023 Hajj through the Oyo State government have been given till Monday, April 17, for the payment of about N3 million as the fare for the journey and others.
Recall that the Oyo State Pilgrim Welfare’s Board (Muslim Wing), while waiting for the final announcement by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), had earlier directed the pilgrims to pay the sum of N2.600 million as an initial deposit for the 2023 Hajj fare.
But after getting the final approval, they have been asked to add N399,000 to the initial deposit, putting the total fare at N2.999 million.
The Chairman of the board, Professor Sayed Tunde Malik, disclosed this in a statement signed and released to the media on Wednesday.
He noted that NAHCON, with the Chief Executive Officers of State’s Pilgrims Welfare Boards on Friday, April 7, 2023, announced and approved the final 2023 Hajj fares for each state across the nation, and N2.999 million was approved for each intending pilgrim from Oyo State.
Mr Malik also disclosed that the commission has fixed Friday, April 21, for the final remittance of the money paid by all intending pilgrims.
While soliciting the continued understanding and cooperation of the intending pilgrims, the board’s chief advised them to make use of the limited time to complete their payments to any of the designated bank accounts of the board as this will enable the board to remit the approved fund to NAHCON and make necessary preparations for their travel arrangements to the Holy Land for the 2023 pilgrimage.
He further appealed to all prospective pilgrims who have completed their payment to immediately submit their international passports at the Hajj Camp, Office of the Board, Olodo, Ibadan, for travel processing.
