The Chief Missioner of Nasrul-Lahi-l-Faatih Society (NASFAT), Imam Abdul-Azeez Onike has enjoined Nigerians to be peaceful, prayerful and assist their neighbours.
He said this call has become necessary in view of the current situation in the country, occasioned by the currency swap policy and fuel scarcity. He reminded Nigerians that nothing happens without the knowledge of Allah, adding that demonstration of patience in the face of ongoing challenge will attract reward and compensation from the Creator.
“With Him are the keys of the Unseen. No one knows them but He. He knows what is in the land and the sea. No leaf ever falls but that He knows about it, and there is no grain in the dark layers of the earth, or anything fresh or dry that is not recorded in a manifest book. (Q6:59)
“Nothing afflicts a Muslim of hardship, nor illness, nor anxiety, nor sorrow, nor harm, nor distress, nor even the pricking of a thorn, but that Allah will expiate his sins by it,” he cited as a quotation from Prophet Mohammad (SAW).
Consequently, Onike advised Nigerians against destruction of properties and violence in any form. “And eat up not one another’s property unjustly in any illegal way, example, stealing, robbing, usury, deceiving” (Q2:188).”
He enjoyed Nigerians to extend hands of kindness to their neighbours who are less fortunate and privileged. He defined a neighbour as those whose houses are next to yours; or the people of the locality in which you live; or those whose houses are next to yours or facing yours; or the people of a dead-end street or cul-de-sac; or those between whom and you have clear access; or those who pray with you in the worship centre or what your custom regards as neighbour.
