Gov says death huge loss to state

The Chief Imam of Oyoland, Sheikh Mashood Abdul Ganiyy Adebayo, Ajokidero III, is dead. A source close to the family told The Guardian that the Chief Imam died in the early hours of yesterday.

Meanwhile, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has expressed sadness over the demise of the Chief Imam, saying that his death was a huge loss to the people of the state.

A statement by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, quoted the governor as describing the departed Islamic cleric as a peacemaker that worked peacefully with the Oyo Mesi, the sons and daughters of Oyo as well as all segments of the society.

Also, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Teslim Folarin, has mourned the demise of the religious leader. This was contained in a statement made available to journalists by Folarin’s media aide, Yekini Olaniyi.
