The Islamic Cultural Centre, Markaz Iwo, Osun State, has organised a special prayer for the success of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in next year’s general elections. The three-month special prayer, which was held alongside the Islamic Centre’s Quran graduation ceremony, had many top clerics and students of the institution in all its branches pray for Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election.

The national president of the Sharia Council of Nigeria, Shaykh Hadiyatullah Abdulrasheed and other top Muslim scholars attended the prayer session. A renowned Islamic scholar, Shaykh Wazeer Adekilekun, who delivered a lecture during the event, charged Nigerians to pray for peaceful elections and a smooth transition next year. “Prayer is essential for any laudable project that one may undertake in life, especially for those who believe in the efficacy of prayers; definitely prayer is better than a curse.”

“Shaykh Hadiyatullah Abdulrasheed was on the seat; while an outstanding Islamic scholar of note, Shaykh Wazeer Adekilekun, was the guest lecturer. Without any iota of doubt, Wazeer performed creditably. Mr. Ismail Biodun Akande deputised on behalf of Alhaji Tunde Rahman, the chief host on that day, and many seasoned politicians honoured his invitation with their presence.

The manager and Chief Imam of Al-markaz Al-Islamiy Al-thaqofy, Khalifa Mudeer Qasim Abdulrahman, said: “Since Tinubu is our reliable man, he deserves our support as Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) enjoins us to love our brothers as we love ourselves.”

The Chairman of all Arabic school proprietors in Osun State, Shaykh Waliyi Tijani Adesiji, prayed fervently for the stability of Nigeria. Ameenu li Markaz Shaykh Sheriffdeen Abdul Rahman, the distinguished scholar of note from an Arab country recited the Khutuba for the audience. The great Islamic scholar prayed for the success of Tinubu’s presidential ambition. His Royal Majesty Oba Abdul Azeez Olatunbosun, Akire of Ikire-Ile Kingdom, was the royal father of the day. He also prayed for Tinubu; that “the defender of the downtrodden will be victorious in the next year’s presidential election by the grace of God.”
