Muslim-Muslim ticket: Tinubu meets Bishops, Pastors, allays fears

179views

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has again allayed the fears about the vexing issue of Muslim/Muslim presidential ticket, saying picking Senator Kashim Shettima as his running mate was not done to undermine Christians in Nigeria.

Tinubu, who spoke on Thursday night in Abuja at a meeting with Bishops and Pastors, told the clerics that his choice of the former governor of Borno State was not a threat to the Christian community.

The former Lagos governor noted that his choice of Shettima was based on competence and not religious consideration.

According to him, religion should not be a factor in the election of President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor in 2023.

He pointed out that only competence can resolve the political and socio-economic challenges bedeviling the nation.

Tinubu further told the clerics that if given the opportunity to become Nigeria’s next president, he would put an end to the security challenges facing the country.
