The Imam, National Mosque Abuja, Professor Ibrahim Maqari, has debunked hearsays that he was appointed as one of the Imams for Holy Ka’aba mosque in Saudi Arabia.
The claims have been circulating on the social media, with the original source traced to Daily Trust Hausa.
However, Professor Maqari in a tweet written in Hausa said the romour might be a way of well-wishing by peddlers or a semblance of name of an appointee.
His words: “I have been receiving calls since morning from friends and associates that I have been appointed as Imam of the Holy Mosque.
“May be it is one way of well wishing by the initiators of the rumour, or there is a name that looks alike with mine among the appointees.
“I want to appreciate everyone for showing concern but am not the person.”
