A non-government organization, the Muslim Association of Visually Impaired of Nigeria (MAVIN) has empowered scores of visually impaired and needy people in society with items and cash gifts to cushion the effect of the nation’s economic downturn on their general wellbeing.

At the momentous event, MAVIN put smiles on the faces of many less privileged as it celebrated the 2022 Eid-El-Kabir and showered gifts, goods and cash to improve the social conditions of the beneficiaries.

At the event supported by Alhaja Zuwerat Musa and friends, Alhaji Lukmon Abdulroheem Azamowe, the Chairman of MAVIN Lagos State Chapter lauded the support of Alhaja Musa, saying many visually impaired persons did not lose their sight from birth.

He charged Muslims and fellow Nigerians not to consider them as beggars, adding that some of them are literate and graduates from Nigerian universities.

The MAVIN Chairman emphasized the need for the support of the less privileged and people in this category and assured them that the association would continue to provide support to acquire basic knowledge of their religion in a conducive and friendly environment without discrimination on account of their condition.

In her short address, Alhaja Zuwerat Musa reminded the people of a lot of ability in disability and urged the beneficiaries not to see themselves as lesser human beings but to put in more effort and never stop praying.

She described the opportunities provided as a stepping stone for the beneficiaries to turn over the cash, items and support to be better people and improve their social standing.

Impressed by the kind gesture of Alhaja Musa, a guest who witnessed the presentation of items, gifts and cash donations to the beneficiaries, Alhaja Mulikat Oriloye lauded the donor, adding that the kind gesture has become an annual event and expressed the desire to also join in giving back to society.

Founded on April 1st, 2006 in Lagos, MAVIN is an incorporated association of blind and visually impaired Muslims established to facilitate spiritual, moral, social and economic well-being for members.
