Barely two months after it won the Leadership 2020 ‘Bank Of The Year award, TAJBank Limited has won the BusinessDay 2021 ‘Islamic Bank of the Year award.
According to a statement from the bank, the award was conferred on TAJBank at the 9th edition of the Banks and Other Financial Institutions Awards (BAFI) 2021 ceremony held in Lagos.
The management of the newspaper in a letter stated that TAJBank was honoured with the award based on its innovativeness in products packaging and customer-friendly services to its growing customers over the past two years.
“When it commenced operations in 2019, TAJBank took the banking sector, as a whole, by storm. Its revolutionary agency banking model, suite of innovative retail products, depth of business banking, expertise, and world-class private banking service resonated with customers.
“TAJBanks knowledgeable, courteous staff, excellent technology platform and inclusive corporate culture have won plaudits across the northern states, where it operates,” the newspaper management stated.
More so, analysts in BusinessDay’s Research & Intelligence Unit (BRIU) have projected that the Islamic banking sector in Nigeria will grow by 15 percent yearly from this year up to 2026. And at its current growth rate, BRIU analysts project that TAJBank could capture as much as 65 percent of that market growth once it secures a national banking license.
Commenting on the award, the Founder/Chief Operating Officer of TAJBank, Mr. Hamid Joda, described it as evidence that the bank is on the right track in its sustained drive to re-define non-interest banking in Nigeria, especially in terms of innovativeness and customer-focused products and services.
TAJBank’s Chief Marketing Officer/Co-Founder, Mr. Sheriff Idi, said: “The BusinessDay award is highly valued by our Board and management since we didn’t lobby for it.
