The Muslim Congress (TMC) has flagged off its 28th National Islamic Training Programme (NITP), meant to create awareness about the annual camping event.

Addressing journalists at a press conference, to formally unveil the NITP logo, the Secretary-General of TMC, Alhaji Hassan Adesina, who represented the Amir, Alhaji Abdul Wasi Bangbala said NITP remains one of TMC’s flagship programmes.

He said, “It’s an annual event that showcases the incredible depth of our inspired and far-reaching persuasions. The National Islamic Training Programme (NITP) is held annually to mobilise Muslims’ innate resources, the spiritual, intellectual and physical proclivities for the common good.

“Today, my task here is to officially flag-off the 28th National Islamic Training Program (NITP), proclaim the theme and also raise the curtain on the official logo of the event, with the theme “Restoration of National Values: Our Collective Responsibility”. This, we consider fitting and instructive as we seek to reinforce our commitment to value reorientation as an important building block for national development,” he noted.

Adesina said, “With the outbreak of the Coronavirus in 2020, the prevailing realities foisted on us the imperative of finding veritable alternatives to the conventional camping approach. To this end, we resolved to go online, real-time leveraging ICT this past year and subsequently tasked the organising committee to re-focus its workings and energies into convening a virtual outreach program that appeals and connects with a global audience.”

According to him, “For the second year running, the virtual edition of the NITP will be taking center stage with preparations in top gear for a captivating experience, one like never before. And following the widespread reactions that greeted the 27th NITP in 2020, being the maiden virtual edition, there is heightened enthusiasm among our expectant audience from around the world, anticipating the 28th National Islamic Training Program.

“The second virtual edition is slated to begin on Friday, 24th December 2021. This year, the VITP would be featuring reputable scholars and academics from around the world as they give thought-provoking submissions in the dissection of this year’s talking point.

Adesina said the NITP has, over the years become an extraordinary reference point for the multitude of faithful who throng designated camp-sites every year to savour the enriching impacts of the annual event.

According to him, for almost three decades, hundreds of thousands of the young and elderly have been propelled to productive heights, buoyed by spiritual fortifications and clear discernment on non-spiritual matters.

“Participants have always drawn inspiration from the absorbing and stimulating presentations of widely acclaimed scholars and intellectuals who facilitate the annual assembly.

“Facilitators would often deal with topical matters bordering on spiritual well-being, nation-building, finance, economy, science and technology, capacity building, networking, social cohesion including unity of the Muslim Ummah, to mention but a few,” he noted.
