Plans medical park project to boost quality healthcare delivery
The Lagos State Government has reiterated the need for stable and quality power supply in the state to boost economic activities.
The state Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Olalere Odusote, stated this, yesterday, during the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ikeja Electric (IE) and Commercio Electricity Exchange held at Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja, Lagos.
The agreement will also include distribution of free pre-paid meters to low-income areas, with the pilot phase of 20,000 meters to be distributed in Alimosho Local Council of the state.
Odusote said the agreement was part of the state’s policy to increase the supply and consumption of electricity within the area.
Besides, he said that the state government had approached the electricity distribution company with a proposal to partner on a project to deliver up to 20 hours daily stable power supply to communities within its franchise areas.
He added that the objective of the agreement was to outline how Lagos State government, IE, and Commercio Electricity Exchange would work together to achieve the project objective.
Chief Executive Officer, IE, Mrs. Folake Soetan, gave the assurance that the DisCo would ensure adequate power supply for the people of the state.
IN another development, the state government, through the Office of Public-Private Partnership (OPPP), in conjunction with the Ministry of Health, has concluded plan for construction of a multi-billion-naira Medical Park in the state.
The park, which would be sited on 2.175 hectares of land along Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, is a novel and first-of-its-kind comprehensive health infrastructure in Nigeria aimed at significantly increasing access of residents to qualitative healthcare services as well as check foreign medical tourism.
Director-General, OPPP, Mr. Ope George, who spoke on the project, said the medical park complex, with state-of-the-art equipment and infrastructure, would comprise 120-150 bed spaces and provide a full spectrum of excellent and quality healthcare services with cutting edge technology, medical specialists and diagnostic services under a public-private partnership structure.
He listed the services to be provided at the park to include: outpatient/inpatient clinics, diagnostic services, pediatrics and neonatology, internal medicine, gastroenterology and neurology, cardiology, radiology, obstetrics and gynecology, oncology, orthopedics and traumatology.
