Muslim faithful from all walks of life, including the Chief Imam of Lagos. Sheik Sulaimon Abou-Nolla yesterday converged on Lagos State Central Mosque to pray for the nation for peaceful coexistence to reign in the country while commemorating the 2020 Maolid Nabbiy celebration.
Maoulud Nabbiy is an annual event, which commemorates the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Maoulud Nabbiy is an annual event, which commemorates the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The clerics at the gathering at the prayer session urged Nigerian leaders to rule with the fear of Allah and fulfill their obligations to the citizens.
Abou-Nolla enjoined the Nigerian leaders to emulate Prophet Muhammad (SAW) exemplary leadership style in dealing with the followers.
The Chief Imam of Lagos also asked the leaders to listen to the youth in discharging their duties and also guard against disharmony.
He said that this has been a challenging year for Nigerians particularly with the outbreak of COVID-19 and the #EndSARS protest.
He described the Holy Prophet as the best of mankind, urging Muslims to inculcate his exemplary lifestyle.
“Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is a leader and a mentor and he told us that anytime we have challenges, we should call unto Allah because He is the protector and saviour of mankind.
“What we witness during the protest organised by the youth is a call to others that in every stewardship we are going to be held accountable. In whatever we do, Allah’s piety must come first. I urge our leaders to fulfill their promises to the citizens because Nigerians want feedback in terms of good governance, infrastructure, security, and others,” he said.
The Bashorun of Lagos, Alhaji Sikiru Alabi Macfoy, said the event was to pray for the country in the face of current happenings. He prayed to Allah to guide Nigerian leaders to formulate and implement policies that would benefit the majority.
He applauded the goals of the #EndSARS movement. According to him, their blueprints were laudable and achievable.
The Special Adviser to Lagos State Government on Islamic matters, Jebe Abdullah Ahmad, said today is a blessed day that marks the birth of the Noble Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
“As a Muslim, we must be perseverance and peace. Today is a special day in the Islamic world that is why leaders of Lagos State came together to pray for the whole nation,” he said.
