CHRISTIAN and Muslim youths operating under the aegis of the Nigerian Inter-religious Council on Thursday called for an end to the #EndSARS protests.
They said all hands must be on deck to end the trend of targeted attacks on persons and properties following recent massacre of protesters in Lekki area of Lagos.
The NIREC youths, who said they were following the developments in the country, condemned the killing of activists demanding police reforms in Lagos and other parts of the nation on Tuesday.
During a joint press briefing by Suleiman Sani (Muslim Wing) and Apostle Andy Nyeneime (Christian Wing), the youths also expressed condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
They called on the government to be fair and transparent in dealing with the demands made by the protesting youths and hasten up with all that would assuage and calm the nerves.
The youths said, “We are saddened by the avoidable violence that has led to injuries, loss of lives and properties. This could have been averted if the peaceful protest was not allowed to degenerate.
“We call on the youth to accept that it is time to end street protest and allow other modes of peaceful engagement with all the relevant bodies and authorities in the country.
